A VR escape game in the flames of Notre Dame de Paris
You probably all know the famous cathedral Notre Dame de Paris, brutally devastated by flames in 2019. If this disaster is a great loss for the cultural heritage, it nevertheless had the merit to inspire a brand new virtual reality escape game scenario created by Ubisoft, in collaboration with the film production and distribution company Pathé.
This original project recreates perfectly the architecture of this mythical monument. In this brand new VR game, you and your team will step into the shoes of the brave firemen of Paris who fought the flames. The studio explains
"Like any escape game, it's all about puzzles and cooperation with your teammates. The idea is to make your way through the cathedral to find the relics and fight the fire, as you must save Notre Dame before time runs out.”
This is not the first time that the studio is interested in this historical monument. Indeed, Ubisoft had made a detailed 3D model of Notre-Dame for Assassin’s Creed Unity, and used that model to make a previous VR experience after the fire in 2019 called “Notre-Dame de Paris: Journey Back in Time” allowing the public to continue to visit the monument for free despite its closure.
The game “Notre Dame on fire” was released last March to correspond with the launch date of the documentary film with the same name centered on this event. The experience lasts about 1 hour and will soon be available in many virtual reality parks.
VR Play Park, Prague’s virtual reality theme park, is expecting to integrate this new experience into its attraction catalog very soon.
